WAUKESHA Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The suspect charged in the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy appeared in court today ahead of his trial. Darrell Brooks is charged with killing six people and injuring dozens more during the Waukesha Christmas parade last year.

His defense lawyers are aiming to limit what can be used in the upcoming trial. A hearing today focused on interrogations of Brooks while he was in custody after his arrest and if any rights were violated.

Police who interacted with brooks say the suspect was aware of his rights. Another hearing is scheduled for today. The jury trial is set to begin in October.
