WIAA to restrict attendance at state tournaments amid coronavirus outbreak

Local News

The WIAA State Boys and Girls Basketball will have limited attendance, the WIAA announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the WIAA said that amid the coronavirus outbreak, attendance at the tournaments will be limited to 88 tickets per team. That includes two supervisors and a limit of 22 team personnel.

In the statement officials said Contest officials, timer, scorekeeper, announcer, team host, WIAA staff, WIAA athletic trainers and Board of Control members who are deemed essential to the administration of the tournament are permitted.

Cheerleaders, pep bands, school photographers, videographers and on-site sponsors will be prohibited.

The statement also said that the live broadcast of the tournaments will still be available, but radio broadcasts will be limited.

The release states that tickets will be refunded in full. Tickets purchased at schools will be refunded by the school and not the Resch Center or WIAA.
