MONROE COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Two wild deer in Monroe County have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease during the fall hunting season. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says these are the first confirmed cases in the county. CWD is a fatal disease impacting the nervous system.

Per state law, the DNR will be placing a 3-year ban on baiting and feeding deer in Monroe County on February 3rd. The DNR will host a virtual information meeting for Monroe County to talk about CWD.
