Wisconsin contractors anticipate another pool boom

Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – There’s still a big demand to put in backyard swimming pools. Experts attribute a boom, starting last year, due to the pandemic.

Caroline Peterson dove into this topic- speaking to a homeowner and local pool company about what the trend will bring this year.

Pool sales are spilling into this summer.

“Memorial Day, the kids should be able to jump into it so hopefully the weather permits,” said Randy Raven.

Randy Raven and his family decided to test the waters.

Contracting with a local company in March and breaking ground just days ago at their Belleville-area home.

“During the pandemic, we realized what we wanted, we got to spend a lot more time together as a family,” said Raven.

The family decided a pool would do the trick, realizing they weren’t alone.

“I did reach out to a few places and I was getting the same answer, you know you and 15-hundred other families are inquiring about this,” said Raven.

Recreational Concepts, the company working on Raven’s backyard is riding a wave of demand.

Vice President Adam Zickus says they are already booking into next year, and 2023.

“On our build area, we used to have counties away and build all over southern Wisconsin, where now we can really just focus on the greater Dane County area and not have to travel so far because there are so many potential customers,” said Zickus.

On top of demand, they’re also combating material supply.

“Typically, we will order parts for people’s pools and materials as the jobs go through the summer, and now we have to order everything beforehand,” said Zickus.

It’s bound to be a busy summer.

“We’re ramping things up so much that we have pulled people from next year into this year already to fill up the rest of the schedule,” said Zickus.

With homeowners looking forward to the finished product.

“It’s going to be a great space for the family and all of us to be together,” said Raven.
