Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Security is ramping up inside our nation’s capitol ahead of the inauguration.

Yesterday morning, hundreds of guardsmen were photographed sleeping on the floor of the visitor’s center in the U.S. Capitol as they ensure the safety of congress after last week’s deadly riots.

The Metropolitan Police Chief said to expect 20-thousand national guard members to be involved in securing the capitol.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed the troops, thanking them for their service.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers yesterday afternoon said about 500 Wisconsin National Guard troops will mobilize to federal duty to support civil authorities in the Washington D.C. region in advance of the inauguration.
