PGA Championship Round 1

It’s been five years since Whistling Straits hosted a major event, and now the time has come for it to host the PGA Championship. A big opening round for Dustin Johnson today. John Kuchko has more from Kohler.
For Dustin Johnson it’s been an unconventional last 18 months. He went through rehab, got through that.  He’s competed mightily in the majors. He finished 6th in the Masters.  Runner-up at the US Open at Chambers Bay. Competed at St. Andrews at the British Open until the weekend when he fell apart and here he is at the PGA Championship on page one of the leaderboard.
“It doesn’t really bother me either way, I would prefer to be in the lead though, that’s less shots that you got to make up. You still just got to play your game no matter where you’re at you got to play your game. Especially majors, when you try to push and try to make things happen that’s when you can make some big numbers in majors.”
Dustin Johnson is where he wants to be after golfs final major of the season but closing the deal in the big events is something that has eluded him to this point. Maybe this week will be different.
At Whistling Straits I’m john Kuchko.
