Third grade students from Flynn Elementary school have been participating in the Flat Stanley Exchange and they recently received a package from the leader of our country.

The students spent time reading Flat Stanley books and coloring images of Flat Stanley and sent them all over the world.

Then they track, talk, and write about all the adventures their Flat Stanley goes on. One student sent his Flat Stanley to the White House and he received a gift package of pictures of the president, his family, and his dogs.

Xander Rehbein says that he couldn’t believe that he got a response from the president.

“My sister, when she looked in the mail, she freaked out that we got stuff from the president.  I said it’s probably asking for money for his campaign.”

“President Obama’s message was so positive and strong about making a difference in the world that we got pretty excited about it when we read the letter.”

Amy Detrick also received a letter from the president thanking her for being a teacher.
