The shooting — just outside of Cashton — prompted the Cashton School District to cancel classes Friday.

A statement from the district says, “Out of an abundance of care and concern for the safety of our students and employees, I felt the safest option was for students to remain home with their families.  Unfortunately, it was impossible to know how long it might take for the situation to be resolved.  Thank you for your support and flexibility this morning.  I very much appreciate the role many of you played in helping to communicate the unexpected school closure.”

Evening events and activities went on as planned at the district.
