Several local schools are being celebrated for completing renovations that were done after a referendum passed in 2016.
“Really what we’re doing is celebrating the work of the referendum and the projects that we’ve completed because of the support of the public,” said Kim Koller, executive director of administration at the ECASD.
“One of the main safety changed that we made was the atrium in the front that’s a lock in system, so folks have to come through two separate doors they have to come through and be buzzed in – so that increases the safety of the building,” said North High principal, Cale Bushman.
At the end of January, the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce and the school district will host ribbon-cutting ceremonies for six different schools.
The schools include North and Memorial High Schools, Chippewa Valley Montessori Charter School, Manz Elementary School, Lake Shore Elementary School, and North Star Middle School.
Safe schools remain a top priority across the school district.
“Student learning is always at the center of it, so making sure we’re taking care of our building, making it a nice safe place to be is going to show an increase in student learning,” said Cale Bushman, North High principal.
