Springing Ahead to Safety


As you spring your clocks ahead, fire departments also want to remind you this is a good time of year to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, three out of every five home fire deaths occurred when smoke detectors were either not present or were not working properly. Smoke detectors should be tested monthly to ensure they are working properly. Detectors should be replaced every 10 years.
