Ask any new parent and they’ll say a major expense for them is on diapers. Well, one fundraiser in Eau Claire today looked to help some families ease those costs. The second annual stroller derby, sponsored by the diaper bank of the junior league of Eau Claire, was held at Carson Park.
Along with face-painting, games and other fun activities, the event offered walkers and runners of all ages a chance to get a little exercise in, while also helping local families who can’t afford this important necessity for a newborn. Diapers, obviously, can be very expensive. They figure almost a thousand dollars a month are spent on diapering a brand-new baby.
When you’re trying to make ends meet otherwise, it’s important to not have to worry about getting those diapers. Bollman said the goal for today’s 5K was to raise one thousand dollars to help with getting diapers out to local pantries.
