A Vernon County man is accused of First-Degree Intentional Homicide following an incident in rural Chaseburg over the weekend.
59-year-old David Stowe was arrested Saturday morning.
Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said when law enforcement officers arrived at Stowe’s home, Stuart Warner was found dead outside.
The sheriff said Warner was from Arizona, but was living with Stowe for the last three to four months.
Law enforcement officers say there was no threat to the public during this incident.
“Officer safety and public safety is first and foremost, and in this situation within minutes that was not an issue. We knew we had the situation contained and that’s when everything has to slow down. Everything slows down and then it becomes a very methodical, precise investigation,” said Spears.
Stowe appeared in court Monday via video, and was given a $250,000 cash bond.
According to Spears, he’s currently at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison.
