The turmoil and bloodshed that has plagued the region for decades is claiming more lives this weekend with a bomb tearing through St. Mark’s cathedral this morning. The church is home to Egypt’s small Coptic Christian community.
Egypt has seen a wave of violence since the coup that has removed former President Morsi. The current military regime blames the ousted Islamic brotherhood for the attacks. But the instability in Egypt runs much deeper and increasingly President Sisi is facing criticism for his handling of the economy and the security situation.
Violence also striking in Turkey. On Saturday night, Kurdish separatists carried out attacks on a soccer stadium in an upscale area of downtown Istanbul. At least 38 people were killed, while more than 150 were wounded.
The bombing is just the latest in a string of violence that has hit Turkey in the last 18 months. Turkey is marking a day of mourning. The president vowed he will defeat terrorism. In Jerusalem Connor Powell Fox News.
