We’re known for our love of cheese here in the Badger State and we’re sending some of that love to those impacted by Harvey. The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and two dozen cheese companies throughout the state are getting together to donate more than 17-thousand pounds of fromage to Houston.
From string cheese to cheese curds, they started today packing up a delivery truck headed to the nation’s largest food bank, which is in Houston.
Organizers say this is just one thing we can do to help those who have been through so much.
“It’s a very small thing for us to do with what they’re facing but let’s face it cheese is comfort food, it makes you happy. So, if we can bring a little bit of happiness to the folks down there then that’s what we want to do.”
The shipment will also include 300 pounds of butter.
The truck will leave Tuesday and the goal is to be in Houston by Thursday.
