CHIPPEWA FALLS Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Chippewa Falls School Board votes to remove a book from the English curriculum. In May, a parent petitioned to remove the book, ‘Neanderthal Opens the Door to the Universe” from the 9th grade class reading list, disagreeing with its depiction of drugs, sexual descriptions and other issues.

A panel at the time recommended to keep the book in the school district. The parent then appealed the decision, and last night, the school board voted five to two to remove the book from the curriculum, but it will be available for students under 18 with parental consent.
