EAU CLAIRE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – August is clear the shelters month. Animal shelters across the nation are participating in the program encouraging adoption.
At the Eau Claire County Humane Association, that means fees are waived for animals older than six or ones who have been there at least 60 days. The push comes as shelter officials feel the need to cut back public hours.
They say that’s because they have nearly 150 animals to take care of and want to dedicate more time and energy to ensuring those furry friends get the love and care they deserve. But if you want to take your newest family member home and can’t make it during public hours, all you have to do is schedule an appointment.
“It’s so special when you can finally see that one of our long-term residents is going to a good home. And while we’re going to miss them, we’re obviously way happier that they’re not in the shelter anymore.”
Eau Claire’s Humane Association will not have public hours on Sundays this month. The shelter will still hold public hours on Thursdays and Fridays from two to four pm.
