EAU CLAIRE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A middle school teacher and high school athletic director with Regis Catholic Schools is arrested for suspicion of sexual assault of a child. Yesterday, officers with the Eau Claire Police Department arrested 56-year-old Jonathon Jarocki.

Regis Catholic Schools says he has been suspended pending the outcome of this investigation. In a letter sent to parents, the Regis Catholic Schools President says Jarocki cleared all background checks when he was hired in 2014, and his most recent check was done in August 2020.

The district says there were no previous incidents found within those background checks to indicate any concerns. In 2019, Jarocki was named the new Regis High School Athletic Director. Per his page on the district’s website, Jarocki teaches sixth-grade science.

Regis Catholic Schools says it’s cooperating fully with authorities. In addition to the sexual assault of a child, ECPD says Jarocki is also accused of child enticement and causing mental harm to a child. No charges are filed yet in this case. He’s expected to appear in court this morning.
