LA CROSSE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A man is arrested after a 4-hour standoff with police over the weekend. La Crosse police responded to a home in the 400 block of South 10th Street for a report that a man barricaded himself in the crawl space of a basement.

When they arrived, the man, Jason Rankin, told officers he was stuck inside the wall and couldn’t find his way out. Officers removed a piece of plywood and saw Rankin who crawled back into the space.

Throughout the stand-off, Rankin become agitated at times and threatened to kill officers. Police used a limited chemical agent and a k-9 to get Rankin out of the crawl space. Eventually he did come to the opening where officers helped him out. Rankin could face multiple charges like criminal trespass.
