Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A Medford man who caused a crash that killed a woman and hurt her eight children is sentenced. 36-year-old Skyler Opelt pleaded no contest and was found guilty in June.

Today, he was sentenced to four years in prison and 6 years extended supervision for homicide and reckless driving. Opelt was driving on County Highway E in the town of Little Black when he hit a buggy.

Deputies say Opelt had slurred speech and glassy eyes. Opelt later admitted to snorting drugs. A 36-year-old woman died from injuries she suffered in the crash.
