ALTOONA Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Altoona Police Department has released the names of the people involved in a fatal hit and run crash over the weekend. The department says 29-year-old Jonathan Peacock was walking on Highway 12 between McCann Drive and 10th Street West in Altoona when he was hit and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning.
35-year-old Brendan Barkovich of Eau Claire was identified as the driver. He was found later in the day Sunday and taken into custody.
Police are recommending Barkovich face charges of hit-and-run causing death and possession of cocaine. He was cited by Altoona police for failure to notify police of an accident. He has a court appearance scheduled today.
