Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Seasonal hiring is expected to drop way off this year due to inflation and recession concerns. An executive coaching firm that tracks hiring data and trends says seasonal hiring will plummet about 37 percent this year.
Hiring for retail, warehouse, and transportation companies for last year’s holiday season was about 940-thousand 300 workers. This year, that number is expected to be 592-thousand hires.
Key retailers like Macy’s and Walmart are also making steep cuts in seasonal workers. The US postal service is hiring only 28-thousand temporary workers, compared to 40-thousand last year.
