TREMPEALEAU COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A truck burst into flames after a crash in Trempealeau County. The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of a pickup truck fell asleep while driving on highway 93 north of Independence.

The pickup drifted into the other lane and hit a grain truck. The crash sent the pickup into a ditch where it burst into flames.

The driver of the pickup was able to get out before the truck was engulfed in flames. The sheriff’s office says a flight nurse on her way to work and a couple other drivers stopped to render aid.

The driver of the pickup was flown to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the grain truck was not injured.
