PIERCE COUNTY Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Two people are dead after a small plane crash yesterday afternoon in Pierce County. The sheriff’s office says the plane crashed just after 1:30 in a field about a half mile west of the Red Wing Regional Airport on Highway 35.

Deputies say the plane left Rochester, Minnesota for a training flight to the Red Wing Regional Airport in Bay City. Two people on board did not survive the crash.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board to arrive on scene to investigate the crash.
