Woman Hurt After Driving into Sinkhole in Trempealeau County

News

A woman is hurt after deputies say she drove into a sinkhole in Trempealeau County.

The sheriff’s office says it happened just before 2 p.m. on March 28 on Arneson Ridge Road, west of Highway 53 in the Township of Preston.

Robine Beck, 47, of Independence called to report the crash and injuries to her leg, neck, and back.

According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, the sinkhole was approximately 20 feet long, 10 feet wide, and nearly eight feet deep.

Deputies say either two culverts failed or water weakened the culverts over the years and recent flooding may have contributed to the collapse.
