CADOTT, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) – Today at Cadott High School, the Hornets celebrating a unique signing day this afternoon for one of their prep athletes. Jaycee Stephens signed her letter of intent to compete in triathlon at Colorado Mesa University.
Stephens has competed for the Hornets in cross country and track and field while also competing as a member of the YMCA of Chippewa Valley Barracudas Swim Team.
She first started to compete in triathlons at 6 years old and has completed at least 30 since then. Stephens says, “My love for running and swimming, it’s like, you know, who’s your favorite sibling? It’s so hard to pick. And triathlon was just all three of the things that I love. And I think the high adrenaline, I love high adrenaline things just getting out of the water quickly, transitioning into biking and then quickly transitioning into running. It’s all high-adrenaline things that I enjoy.”
