MADISON, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) – Tomorrow (11/16/23) the WIAA State Football Championships kick off with Division 7 through 4, then continues Friday with Divisions 3 through 1. The La Crosse Aquinas Blugold football team will look for their 3rd straight WIAA State Football Title when they take on Wrightstown in the Division 5 title game tomorrow (11/16/23) at Camp Randall.

The Blugolds 12-1 on the year having won their last 12 games after a week one loss to Prairie Du Chien.

Aquinas lost a lot of good players from last year’s squad and Head Coach Tom Lee says that if some were to take truth serum at the beginning of the season, they probably wouldn’t have seen it ending in Madison, “
I would guess that if there were a lot of people if, you know, maybe an injection of sodium pentothal, maybe was a six and three kind of team and we’ll see, you know, maybe they’ll get in the playoffs and make a run.

But I will tell you this, I have never been around a team that has improved from week to week like these guys have. They just keep getting better every week and they’re really fun to be around. They’re good kids. We graduated guys, but don’t make any doubt about we got some dudes.”
