Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – April 4 through April 8 marks Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin. This is a good time to make and practice emergency plans in case severe weather strikes.

Two, statewide tornado drills are planned for Thursday. You’ll hear sirens at 1:45 pm and again at 6:45 pm. The coordinator for Eau Claire County Emergency Management says the Spring and Summer months produce the most severe weather in western Wisconsin

“First make sure you have different ways to get alerts. One thing that is common across the country, across the county, and locally is people have the belief that a storm siren is meant to alert them of a tornado, and that is not really reality,” said Esh.

Tyler Esh says tornado sirens are meant to warn people who are outside that something potentially dangerous is approaching.
